  Pericardium-stage Phlegm Fire Obstruction


Pin Yin: tan zhuo meng bi xin bao
Symptoms:
fatigue, severe; aversion to heat; heat effusion; heat effusion (fever) moderate; sweating excessive.
rapid; labored breathing;
appetite, lack of; absence of thirst; [or] thirst but no desire to swallow; prefers cold drinks.
dark urine ; urination scanty; diarrhea or loose stool; diarrhea alternating with constipation; stools with foul odor; nausea; vomiting; eruptions, reddish.
Pain: oppressive, distended pain; of ribside; of epigastrium; of upper abdomen; relieved by cold; aggravated by pressure or touch.
Sleep: insomnia.
Activity and movement: , sluggish.
Affect: comatose; stupor, semi-conscious; [if still conscious:] agitated or restless; apprehensive; .
Signs:
Tongue Body: red or scarlet.
Tongue Coat: yellow, perhaps white; thick; greasy.
Pulse: rapid; soggy-slippery.
Complexion, other: complexion orange-yellowish.
Pattern derived from: Construction Aspect Damp Heat, which is in turn derived from Construction Aspect Wind Heat. Key indications for Construction Aspect Wind Heat, which are the same for Pericardium-stage Heat, are notated by red type; the additional differentiations for Pericardium-stage Heat are notated by purple type.
