  Liver Blood Stasis


Pin Yin: gan xue yu
Symptoms:
- Similar to Liver Qi Depression, but generally more severe.
menses irregular; scanty menses; hemorrhages, recurring due to ecchymosis, with a dark or purplish color.
Pain: distension; discomfort; of flanks; of breast; of ribside; of groin; fixed stabbing pains; menstrual pain; breast swelling and pain, especially during menses; "plum-pit Qi" (as if a lump stuck in throat).
Affect: depressed; irritable; easily angered, violent.
Signs:
Tongue Body: dusky, purplish, or bluish, especially of lateral edges.
Tongue Coat: normal to thick.
Pulse: bowstring; choppy.
Complexion, other: tumors, growths, masses, hard and immobile on palpation; complexion unnaturally dark.
Pattern derived from: Liver Qi Depression.

  
Herbs:

-- Quicken Blood, Transform Stasis

-Supplement Blood; especially herbs like Rx Rehmanniae Glutinosae Conquitae or Rx Angelicae Sinensis, if used as buffers to moderate the harsh effects of other herbs.

Formulas:

-- Warm menses and dispel Blood Stasis
-- Quicken Blood, Transform Stasis in cases of trauma
