Pin Yin: gan xue xu
Symptoms:
chronic.
scanty menses; amenorrhea.
Pain: dryness (and cracking); itching; of skin.
Sensory abnormalities: numbness of extremities; faintness, syncope; vision poor; .
Activity and movement: weak; tremors.
Signs:
Tongue Body: pale.
Tongue Coat: normal to thin.
Pulse: thready.
Complexion, other: face pale and lusterless; underweight; nails pale.
Pattern derived from: Vacuity of Blood.

NOTE: Liver Blood Vacuity typically coexists with Liver Qi Depression in women. The Liver Depression can easily transform to Heat, especially around menses. The Liver may overact on the Spleen. Due to the close relationship between Blood and Yin in women, Blood vacuity may also lead to Liver Yang Rising. These various pathhomechanisms taken together are another example of Yin Fire.
