Pin Yin: Da Huang Mu Dan Tang

Actions:
   Drains Heat from Intestines and disperses clumping, breaks up Stagnant Blood, and reduces swelling;
  ---used for Intestinal Abscess with lower abdominal focal distention, usually on the right side, that increases on pressure with rebound tenderness, groin pain relieved somewhat by flexing of the right hip and knee, and possibly intermittent heat effusion (fever) with chills and sweating; also used for any condition in which there is Repletion Heat together with Stagnation of Blood and focal distention in the lower abdomen.

Benincasae, S [dong gua ren] 5-10

 


   Associated Modern Diseases: acute uncomplicated appendicitis, mesenteric lymphadenitis, lochioschesis, pelvic inflammatory disease, post-vasectomy infection.
